In the year 2015, at age 19, she published her first single, her debut. It went down a storm and received praise from the public and from critics. It reached number 19 on both the Canadian Hot 100 and Billboard Hot 100. Even Rolling Stone named the song one of the Top Songs of the year. This year she released her debut album Know It All with the third track Scars to Your Beautiful being among the five original tracks that reached the heights of Billboard charts, including those of the Canadian Albums Chart Billboard 200 and Billboard Hot 100. The track was distinctive because numerous people were able to relate to the interviews she gave with Rap-Up regarding her struggles to learn to love and embrace her. Cara is known for incorporating lyrics about mental health care and self-love into her tracks. Her music is an expression of her personal struggle to deal with depression and insomnia. In a Reuters interview she describes the album as being half turbulent and half accomplished. Her growth was aided by therapy and she encourages others to seek out help when needed. The guitar ignited her passion for music. Three years later at the age of 13, she started covering her most loved songs on YouTube one of the biggest media platforms for the world to showcase that she possessed the talent skills and courage to become an aspiring singer. One of her songs she covered Sweater Weather could be the track that got her noticed by EP Entertainment. They allowed her to compose and record her songs.
